Solamente, Habana, Cuba

.....I noticed as a muchacho Cubano strolled toward his casa. I wondered if he felt (what I perceived to be) the immense social injustice swirling around him or was he happy living his young life?

St Petersburg, FLA Photojournalist Ed Foster www.edfoster.net, and I accompanied our mutual amigo Arnold Andrews (19__ - 2006) on one of his many Catholic Charities missions, in 2004.

What an intriguing journey! Sadly, our dear Arnold died suddenly, at a young age a few years ago, when traveling on Com Air, returning from a business trip, back to his longtime Tampa home. However, I shall always remember Arnold, his gentle nature, and how he treated me and his immediate and extended families. It was because of Arnold that I experienced the natural and humanity beauty/culture of Habana, Cuba, while in the tumultuous Castro era! I came to know children of the Revolution - including Roberta Gomez who, at that time, was the Director of International Relations for the Minister of Culture's office, Habana, Cuba. Roberta and cultural office representatives demonstrated great sisterhood toward me, and they showed me that creativity expressed in oppression is every bit as exciting as creativity expressed in freedom. "Muchas Gracias" Arnold Andrews, Roberta Gomez and Ed Foster; for their guidance to my emerging creative expressions.
